NEWS/UPDATE

Thanks for coming to Team Delic, the online home of Amer Delic and his fans. We hope to provide you with constant updates from the road with the Big Bozz himself, and all of his results as he makes his way into the Top 100: (Updated by Mike Cation)

December 12th - Hey everyone. We've had a few folks sign up for TD.com in the last few weeks, which we're very happy about, and some more t-shirt orders. That's always nice, becausee we want to show some support when we can at some of these major ATP tournaments, especially down in Australia!
Here are some great links to check out.
First, Amer did an interview with tennisweek.com last week, and here it is: (also, congrats to TeamDelic's Holly for a photo credit!) Tennis Week Article!
Also, the TD update from Amer found it's way on to this website.
And this is an interview Amer did a couple weeks ago for undergroundtennis.com.
Training is going well down in Jacksonville. Amer is working hard, and leaves for Australia in under two weeks.
Good to hear from so many of you in the last couple weeks!

November 26th-
Well, we're happy to have had the opportunity in the last two hours, actually, while doing this update, to have spoken with Amer. After a fun couple of days with Evan down in Miami, he was on his way back to Jacksonville, and promised an email to all of the members of Team Delic on Monday. He has indeed withdrawn from Maui, so he's done for the year. and what a year it was. Think about it. Started out at 173. Down to 195 at one point. And now, he's at 96. (Of course, he'll probably move up 1 or 2 tomorrow). But it's been fun. I never would have imagined that he would jump like that in the fall. Terrific, terrific year.
He is playing in Adelaide the first week of the year, and then may or may not play in Sydney or Auckland in week 2. But the Aussie Open awaits.
I understand I'm getting a phone call from SFX tomorrow. We'll see what happens. I will keep you updated.
One final, happy note for today, that I forgot to mention earlier this week. Our favorite CNNSI tennis columnist, Jon Wertheim, happened to be reading my press releases from Champaign, it looks like. Thanks Jon!

November 22nd-
What a week. Team Delic had the unique opportunity of watching Amer has he cracked the top 100 for the first time in his career. He's up to 96 after his amazing victory over Zack Fleishman. For a complete list of the articles TD wrote about the tournament in Champaign, follow this link
Afterwards, Amer was whisked away to Miami, where he enjoyed a fun 24 hours with his coach for the week, Evan Zeder. Who, I'm sure, taught him the finer points of the slice backhand. And how to enjoy a Miami Dolphins tailgate.
What does this mean for Amer? Plenty of things. First, he's guaranteed automatic entry in to the Australian Open, where he'll be reunited with former Coach Craig Tiley, and of course, Ali Kawa, PR person extraordinairre. Secondly, with few points to defend in the spring, it's almost guaranteed that he's in to the French as well. So there we go. Top 100, like we promised at the beginning of the season.
Other quick updates, before a full update on Friday, after a hectic thanksgiving holiday for those of us at TD....
-Got some shirts to send out, and Amer is working on the first TD email to go out.
-Amer has re-upped with both SFX, his agency, and Nike. 2 year deal with Nike, now that he's cracked the top 100.
-Amer is in fact playing in Naples this week. He's out of Maui, as he'll get prepped for Australia.
-Expect changes to the website in the next month. We're going to be meeting with the folks at SFX, in an attempt to make this more full service. Which should make this interesting, shouldn't it?
-Full picture update on Friday!

November 16th-
It's been a busy week for us here at Team Delic, as we've been watching a ton of tennis here at the Champaign Challenger, including some classic, classic Amer matches at the Atkins Tennis Center. I can honestly say that he's never had an easy match here. Ever. He picked up a win in two tight sets against Cecil Mamiit on Tuesday night, and a three setter against Phillip Simmonds last night. So he's back in the quarterfinals. It's great for us.
Today, he plays at 4:30.
Holly has taken some amazing pics of Amer over the past 2 nights. When she has time, she's going to post some of them.
Other things Amer's been up to this week: First, he held a press conference with about 20 media members, talking about his run to the top 100. And most importantly, he was honored for his 2003 NCAA Singles Championship at a University of Illinois basketball game. Amazing night, and even though Del hates those kinds of things, he handled it well.
That's it for now. More updates to come.

November 10th-
Team Delic has had the opportunity in the last couple of days to talk to Amer briefly as he continues to roll. He said after Louisville "It was a good week again, and finally to take a title means a lot. It was just a continuation of what I've been doing the last couple of months. Hopefully, I can keep it going the next couple of weeks, including up in Champaign."
And we here in Champaign are anticipating his arrival. As this is written, he is on court in Louisville, in yet another semifinal, against the Great Dane, Kristian Pless. Yesterday, Del beat Vince Spadea, a former top 20 player, in three sets, 7-6 (1), 2-6, 7-5, in one of Amer's top wins in his career. With the win, he has now essentially defended his remaining points from last year (a total of 29 for this week, next week, and the end of the year). So, any victories from here on out are only gravy, and he could make a dramatic move up if he is able to pull off a victory tonight, and any wins later in the year.
We will have an update tomorrow as well, as the Champaign Challenger begins in the morning. Team Delic is working media relations for that tournament, so maybe we'll get Amer to sit down for a full length interview and web update.

November 5th-
GREAT SUCCESS! We've got a big victory at the Louisville Challenger, a three set win over Stephane Bohli, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Awesome, awesome victory, and after four Finals losses, it's great for Amer to pick up a victory. I hope to talk to him later tonight, and we'll see what he says. And Champaign is just a week away!

October 19th-
Another win for Amer today, as he knocked out Zach Fleishman in Calabasas. Not sure yet if Udomchoke won today, but I expect that he would, setting up a very difficult match for Amer. Danai is a tough groundstroker, and loves to play in long rallys. Amer will need to stay aggressive, and go for his shots. Luckily, Danai doesn't have the strongest serve, so Amer will be able to chip and charge a bit, and crack some returns as well.
On a more personal note, the latest musical recommendation from Big Bozz is the K-Os. Imagine a guy who mixes Q-Tip, Cee-Lo, and the Roots, and you've got the K-Os. I picked some up myself today, and will add my support to his musical selection.
More updates coming as we get closer to Champaign!

October 16th-
Amer is set up for a nice end of the year finish, as he's gotten a bit healthy after dealing with that hamstring the last few weeks. His return last week was spoiled by a loss to a red hot Alex Kuznetsov in the second round, but those things happen. He did reach the finals of doubles with good friend and T\former Illini teammate Brian Wilson. That's always fun. This week is Sacramento, and a chance to get some good points. First round is Tuesday, against Wild Card Nikita Kryvonos. Danai Udomchoke awaits in the quarters, with two good matches.
We've gotten some great emails in the last few weeks, and I thank you for all of those! Amer is putting together his monthly update for an email to all of you, and that should be out within days.

September 25th-
Amer will be taking this week off to rest an incredibly difficult hamstring injury. It's something he actually did a few weeks ago, but still reached a final and a semi. Great few weeks for him, and he's expected to be back and in decent shape for Sacramento in a couple of weeks.
So don't worry, or freak out. Everything is good.
Amer has a lot of points to defend in the next few weeks. He reached a final in Carson, and QFs in both Knoxville and Champaign. So in order to get a possible automatic entry in to Australia, which is possible, he'll need about 125 points at least in the next two months. We'll see!
Speaking of rankings, today, Amer got his new career high of 132! Congrats Amer!

September 18th-
Well, another final, and sadly another loss for Amer in New Orleans, this time to Cecil Mamiit. But, the positives are that Del has shot up to a career high 133 in the world. Congratultions to the big guy, and we're very happy for the success. A couple more good weeks, and an Australian Open berth is a real possibility.
Talked with Amer the other day, and he's obviously disappointed about his 2006 0 and 3 streak. He says he's got to start remembering to "get greedy" in those matches. It's just a different mind frame.
The thing that keeps me thinking that it's just a match or two away is that Amer was playing with Benjamin Becker just a couple weeks ago, and look how he's jumped to about 80 in the world. You can't tell me that Becker is dramatically better.
The schedule and results are up, as part of a much needed update. I'm getting to emails in the next day or two as well. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Also, we'll have updates from Lubbock during the week.

September 2nd-
Great to be back! Had a wonderful time in New York City, and got to see Amer play in all three of his qualifying matches. For some photos, you can go to the merchandise page as well. Hopefully, you'll be entertained, and don't forget to email us, and pick up a t-shirt! (Speaking of which, I've got several emails to get to tonight and tomorrow)
Of note: Amer is no longer working with Dean Goldfine. The partnership wasn't going to work out, mostly due to some financial reasons. It's tough to have a personal coach when you're still at the Challenger level.
But obviously, Amer has been playing well. I can say that his groundstrokes were at a level that I hadn't seen in some time, but his first serve percentage was low for someone who hits them as big as he does. The return game has improved dramatically. As soon as Amer starts playing a bit inside the baseline, and taking the balls early like he used to, it's all good.
We'll get another update later in the week, with his full schedule. Enjoy the photos.

August 14th-
Wow, who is the slacker in charge of this website?
My apologies for the lack of updates. Team Delic had a magnificant trip over to Wimbledon (with pictures coming in the next two days), and of course, in the last couple weeks, Amer has made a couple of Challenger finals, including the Vancouver 100K event, which has vaulted him up to 148 in the world, just 6 off of his career high. Awesome month from Big Bozz, and it's always good for him to get home for a bit. He seems to play a little bit better after some time at home.
Which brings us to the US Open, coming up in a couple weeks. I will be out there for qualifying. What about a Wild Card you ask? Well, according to Amer, it isn't happening. But, we have heard just a little bit of a rumbling that it may happen. We will keep you updated as soon as it possibly happens. But for now....nothing. Expect him to roll through qualifying.
Amer is in fact down in Jacksonville for the week, doing some training, and relaxing with his family. Hopefully, the back that he tweaked in Binghamton last week will be ready to go, with qualies beginning next Tuesday. See you there!
